About Peter

Peter has lived and breathed food all his life. From his earliest memories of helping his Mum knead bread dough in a warm kitchen in northern England and growing vegetables for his Dad’s home made pickles and chutneys, Peter’s life has revolved around food.

After buying his first camera at the age of 12, his combined passions led to him becoming one of Australia’s most successful and highly regarded food photographers in a career spanning four decades.

Peter has an unwavering eye for the beauty of food – from the perfect simplicity of fresh, natural produce to the mouthwatering appetite appeal of a prepared dish. His food images have an earthiness and sensuality that invite the viewer to eat with their eyes.

It’s a quality that has seen his work featured in magazines such as Belle, Gourmet Traveller, Vogue Entertaining and Good Weekend, and in glossy cookbooks published all over the world.

It’s also seen him voted Australian Food Photographer of the Year and the winner of countless awards locally and in America, including the Julia Childs Award (twice) and the James Beard Award.
